Wike Expands Arterial Road S1 in Kaura District to Unlock Next-Level Growth for Abuja

ABUJA REPORTS

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is ramping up Abuja’s infrastructure overhaul with a strategic directive: extend the critical 2.4-kilometre Arterial Road S1 in Kaura District to connect directly with Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way).

The announcement came during an inspection on Friday, July 31, 2026, as Minister Wike evaluated progress on the project, which is on track for a December completion.

”The first segment involved building the bridge, but we have directed that it be extended to link directly with Oladipo Diya Road,” Wike told reporters. “I have put pressure on the contractor to include this extension so the project achieves its full impact.”

Key Highlights of the Project

Direct Connectivity: Links the Kaura District Fire Service Station to Ring Road II and now directly into Oladipo Diya Way (Arterial Road S20).

Engineering Milestone: Features a major three-span bridge component, which is already completed.
Speed & Funding: The FCTA guarantees swift financial disbursements to ensure the December handover date is met without delay.

Driving Real Estate & Economic Growth: Beyond smoothing out commutes and cutting emergency response times, the Minister highlighted the project’s massive potential for local commerce and real estate development.

”Anywhere developers see a road, you see buildings coming up—creating jobs for our people,” Wike noted. “When completed, this project will completely transform the landscape of the area.”
