ACCI, TETFund Move to Strengthen Link Between Research and Nigerian Businesses

By Inside Abuja Media | August 14, 2026

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) are exploring ways to bring Nigerian research and businesses closer together.

The partnership is focused on making research produced in Nigerian universities and institutions more useful to businesses and industries that can turn those ideas into practical solutions.

For many businesses, the gap between what researchers develop and what companies actually use has remained a challenge. Stakeholders believe stronger collaboration could help close that gap while creating new opportunities for innovation and investment.

The discussions also point to a wider need for Nigerian businesses to have better access to home-grown technology, research and expertise rather than relying heavily on solutions developed outside the country.

The ACCI and TETFund collaboration is therefore expected to encourage more interaction between researchers, entrepreneurs and industry players, particularly as businesses continue to look for ways to improve productivity and remain competitive.

For Abuja’s growing business community, stronger connections between research institutions and the private sector could also create opportunities for new businesses, partnerships and jobs.

The development was reported by BusinessDay on Friday.
